A remote, expressive washed coffee from the Kirorero washing station, tucked into the steep walls of the Gasuma Valley near Lake Kivu in Rwanda's Rutsiro District. Access is so difficult that cherries arrive by boat, on foot, or by bicycle from surrounding communities.

Operated by COOPAC and serving smallholder producers — with a significant number of women farmers — through the KOTWI-BAKABO and COPROCUCAMU cooperatives, Kirorero is coffee shaped by both landscape and community. Processed coffee is carried back across Lake Kivu by boat before continuing by truck, an extra journey that gives this lot a strong sense of place.
