Kenya Narok Mara Natural Filter 200g
A bold, fruit-driven natural from Mara Coffee, located near Lolgorien in Narok County just a few kilometres from the Maasai Mara. Established in 2019, the farm was built from the ground up in a region historically home to the Maasai people and better known for open grasslands and wildlife than for coffee — making this a new direction for the area.
Most coffee here is processed as natural or anaerobic natural: ripe cherries are handpicked, sorted, fermented in barrels for around four days, then dried on raised beds with repeated sorting to maintain quality. The farm also runs a nursery, distributing seedlings to surrounding farmers to help establish coffee as a stable local crop.
In the cup this lot is rich, syrupy and deeply sweet — ripe plum, soft dates and aged honey. A very different expression of Kenyan coffee: less classic washed, more dried fruit, density and slow sweetness.
